Hani Amra is a Palestinian artist from Jerusalem born in 1981. Amra continuously explores the medium of photography through montage and collage. For the exhibition in NLHspace Amra shows his latest work from the series Highlands. The title Highlands refers to the mountainous towns of the West Bank. In this work Amra plunges into the unusual details of the landscape, where reality tends to transcend, eventually giving way to meaning, poetry and chant. Amra’s work focuses on asserting a personal subjectivity and self-expression by re-constructing a world, together with an acute observation of his environment and its constant evolution in time.
Amra has a Master in oriental literature and has studied Fine Arts at Aix-en Provence University in France. Recent exhibitions include Reconstruction a solo exhibition at Al-Ma’mal Foundation for Contemporary Art (2014); Qalandiya Biennnale, Jerusalem Show VII (2014), Encontros Da Imagem Festival(2014); Format Festival (2014); The Annual photography competition of Pipeline Art magazine; Brighton Photo Fringe OPEN’13 (2013), and recently published Works Ahead! (2014).
